National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) is a high-level centre of reflection, research and dialogue where academics of intellectual excellence, policy initiators and executors and other citizens with a high level of practical experience and wisdom, drawn from different sectors of national life in Nigeria, meet to reflect and exchange ideas on the great issues of society. NIPSS is mandated to conduct courses for top level policy makers and executors drawn from different sectors of national polity.
This is with a view to expanding their outlook and perspectives and stretching their conceptual capacity, thereby helping to improve their overall performance in their different fields of action
Oba (Dr) Sikiru Kayode Adetona School of Governance Studies is a major contribution of the Late Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba (Dr) Sikiru Kayode Adetona to improving governance system in Nigeria. The school was established to close capacity gap in governance through conduct of capacity development courses.
The school was subsequently handed over to the Federal Government of Nigeria who transferred same to the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Nigeria, for training of high-ranking officials in the public and private space as well as other capacity development courses and policy-engaged research activities.
The newly acquired National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies – Oba (Dr) Sikiru Kayode Adetona School of Governance Studies (NIPSS–OSKASOGS), Ago-Iwoye is mandated to carry out policy-engaged research and conduct short courses for policy actors in the public and private sectors, as well as for military and paramilitary organisations and youths.
These courses include Strategic Leadership and Management Course, Strategic Public Service Management Course (Basic and Advanced levels), Policy, Strategy and Security Management Course and other custom-made courses. Others are Policy Strategy and Leadership Course (PSLC), Policy Strategy and Intelligence Management Course (PSIMC), Strategy Course for Command Responsibility, Strategic Leadership Ethics for Policy Making Course (Basic and Advance), and Strategic Leadership Course on Sustainable Cities and Communities among others. All courses are geared towards achieving a better society.
DIRECTOR NIPSS-OSKASOG
Professor Sola Adeyanju, mni, is a distinguished academic, communication expert, and policy strategist. He is the pioneer Director of NIPSS-OSKASOGS. He earned a First Class B.Sc. in Mass Communication and an M.Sc. in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, followed by a PhD in Mass Communication from the University of Ibadan in 2010. Rising to Associate Professor at ABU, he joined the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, in 2014, and became a full Professor and Senior Fellow I in 2018.
Prof. Adeyanju is known for his extensive work in media studies, public opinion, strategic communication, public policy, and leadership. He has authored numerous publications and served as a researcher, trainer, consultant, and facilitator on national and international platforms. At NIPSS, he has contributed to Senior Executive Courses and other strategic programs since 2010 and served as Head of Public Affairs and Deputy Chief Operating Officer (Communication) at the Political Parties Leadership and Policy Development Centre.
A Visiting Professor at Federal University, Kashere, he is a member of multiple professional bodies including ACCE, ACSPN, ANCRON, and NIPR. A recipient of the Arthur Andersen National Award, Prof. Adeyanju, originally from Iseyin, Oyo State, enjoys golf, tennis, and badminton. He is married with children.
