NIPSS-OSKASOGS Tasks Lagos State to Confront Megacity’s Looming Land Crisis

A high-level capacity-building workshop, organized by the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Oba (Dr). Sikiru Kayode Adetona School of Governance Studies (NIPSS-OSKASOGS), has concluded with a critical and Strategic Enlightenment for Lagos State: it must innovate or face a severe land shortage within 25 years.

The week-long strategic leadership and management course, designed and hosted by NIPSS-OSKASOGS for Lagos State’s Permanent Secretaries culminated in a closing ceremony where the institute’s Director General, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, issued the stark prognosis. He charged the state’s Permanent Secretaries to become agents of change, urging them to develop and implement innovative land management strategies to avert the impending crisis.

Prof. Omotayo emphasized that the training provided the ideal platform for such a strategic warning, equipping the state’s administrative backbone with the refined acumen needed to tackle complex governance challenges like spatial planning.

“The intellectual rigor and dedication demonstrated by the permanent secretaries throughout this intensive program confirms that Lagos has the human capacity to navigate this challenge,” stated Prof. Omotayo. He further tasked the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, to formally deliver the institute’s recommendations to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The Director of NIPSS-OSKASOGS, Prof. Sola Adeyanju mni, hailed the workshop as a resounding success and a testament to the institute’s mandate of shaping policy and strategic thinking in Nigeria. He praised the participants for their unwavering enthusiasm and commitment to leveraging their newly honed skills for the advancement of Lagos State.

The Head of service Lagos State Mr. Bode Agoro, extended commendation to the staff and management of NIPSS-OSKASOGS for their organizational dexterity and unwavering support, which ensured the seamless execution of the program and upheld the institute’s reputation for delivering world-class, impactful training.
